Mrs.Shelia Dickey is a superb 3rd grade teacher who has been apart of the Mustang family for 9 years. She believes that all students deserve an equal opportunity to learn. Her approach to teaching is a model of: differentiated instruction, recognizing students' varying backgrounds, readiness to learn, knowledge base, language, preferences in learning, and varying interests. The intent of her instruction is to maximize each student's growth and individual success by meeting each student where they are and guiding them in the learning process.
She also believes education is the key to making a difference in every child’s life, as it did in her own, and they deserve the best she has to give. She feels that every day is an opportunity to be a role model, to help mold a child’s dream and inspire them to achieve more. Every day may come with challenges but a challenge is a just a chance to work with a team of teachers, parents, and students and realize that “together everyone achieves more. Teaching is very rewarding for her and she feels that is it is a part of building a foundation that our kids can stand on for a lifetime. She wants to not just pursue her dreams but enable her students to one day pursue theirs.
Mrs. Geraldine Rush has been in the Gadsden County educational system for 41 years. During those years of service, all were done with a passion and love for working with young children.
She spent most of her educational journey working at George W. Munroe under Mr. Charles D. Boyd until he retired. After working for 35 years she finally retired and decided to come back after a one year. In August of 2013, she worked as a Lab Proctor at West Gadsden High School under Dr. Ida Walker and in August of 2014 she was hired at Gretna Elementary as a Pre-K Paraprofessional under Principal Michael Franklin. She continued working at Gretna Elementary until her Pre-K class was cut. She was then privileged to transfer to Stewart Street Elementary as a Pre-K Paraprofessional because of her great work ethic and character. She was honored to transfer to Stewart Street Elementary under Principal Lisa Robinson, one of the greatest principal’s anyone could ever be employed with.
Stewart Street Elementary has been a great experience as well as all the others. She has willingly taken on the challenge with the strength of God, knowledge, love for children, and a commitment to do her best towards helping others to build a brighter future for children. Her for favorite quote states, “Work in silence and let your success speak loudly for you”.
